PITTSBURGH, PA - Midnight Linux, a recently founded Pittsburgh company, announced today the solution to linux packaging woes. Phat RPM is the next generation in rpm technology. With Phat RPM, the whole OS is packaged into a single RPM. "We're really happy to be bringing this product to market." says James O'Kane, lead programmer on the project. "We've spent months in development of this and we feel that this could revolutionize the linux world." Phat RPM provides other benefits over current linux distributions. No longer will users need to search endlessly for dependencies because there is only one rpm. This also offers a single, easy upgrade path. No more downloading many multiples of rpms to do an upgrade. Future products include a repackaged Red Hat and slackware install in Phat RPM format, and expected Q2 of 2001 is a Windows9x Phat RPM.
